Missing something...

On one of my now many journeys to work across most of Wales and West England, I realised that I couldn't remember how I had managed to get where I was. What do I mean... well have you ever driven somewhere or done something that you are so used to doing that your brain doesn't even bother to 'record' what you have done? I find time dissapears in the car most mornings, it must be second nature to me but boy I worry when I think that if I cannot remember what I have done, maybe I wasn't paying attention?! On the other hand I think it might be down to the Radio I end up listening to each and every long drive I have. after all I listen to the news and political debate each morning from 6am - 9am, I always manage to listen to Womans Hour [Don't ask why, I'm not a woman and can't even relate to what they talk about, maybe it's in hope I can join in the conversation with my Girlfriend one day??] Gardeners question time, Veg. Talk [Yes a program dedicated to Vegtables!]. Come to think of it I must listen to the Radio [BBC4] more than work. Ok I now know where the time goes, shame I can't figure out how to stop the journeys!

Politics & Religion...

Church leaders in West Yorkshire condemned the policies of the British National Party, they are urging people to vote only for those who show "a spirit of inclusive welcome" to all races and faiths in June's local and European elections.
Now lets look carefully at that statement 'Spirit of inclusive welcome' that means treating everyone the same... yet they don't want you to treat the BNP as everyone else, in fact lets try and stamp them out. Hmmm I feel the message has become a little hypocritical here, not that I'm a supporter of the BNP but in a true democratic society we have to let them exist!

In other news a bloody huge wooly sheep has been shawn live on New Zealand TV, the little animal had avoided the sheep farmers by hiding in caves for 6 years and is now, or at least for the time being, a national hero! [for sheep].

Back in the belly of the Wales...

Just as life was getting normal, and by that I mean easy and predictable, I am once again off the work in Wales! Not a bad thing but for some reason I keep being drawn there quite frequently, oh well what a traveled man I am.

I was amused to see the recent Huntleys & Palmer cookie tins making a few bob more than they were meant after a disgruntled artist took revenge by way of adding sex scenes to the otherwise peaceful scene! Only trouble is I cannot get a good enough picture to see what the fuss was about! If anyone knows of any such pictures please drop me a link.

The Nation's Day...

Today as you might now be aware is St. Georges day, who by the way is the patron Saint of England... funny that, as only 8% of the nation knew when it was and probably less will celebrate it in any way. I was not suprised to see that 33% of the nation knew when St. Patricks day was, after all it's a bloody good excuse to drink! Why is this nation, one that used to rule over a third of the world, so unpatriotic? I don't know, and also why is it a can't find one decent picture on Google of St. George & the bloody Dragon either!

What ever happened to...

Well this got me thinking, the world was once looking for Saddam they found him and now... well now what? He's disappeared from the headlines, nothing is ever mentioned, is this a Coalition cover up, did he ever really exist at all or was it a faked publicity stunt and he never really ruled Iraq?!? Well ok maybe I'm thinking a little too far out of the box.

In other news I managed the second day of jogging/walking, and I pushed myself to beat the time the day before, so a personal best on day 2. But the down side is I am aching like no man should ever ache! Oh well, a brave face hides the real pain.

Up and running...

Ok I finally gave in to the fact that I'm getting too fat, 3 years ago I was just under 11 stone... today I'm 14! That's 1 stone a year, or as I figured it out my son was 7lbs 10oz when born so I weigh about 6 babies more! Enough of my twisted calculations what I and my better half had decided is that we would start jogging each day, at first we were due to get up early and do it... on later reflection it was decided to do it straight after work. To my own amazement we both managed it the first night my time was a pathetic 13:09 and yes I walked 50% of it.

It's all in the name of fitness, that's what I keep telling myself!

Finally from the BBC...

I don't know how many of you have BBC3 or even how many of you actually watch it? Why do I ask, well it's because over the last few months it has been gradually uncovering many little gems of comedy.

Nighty Night

Nighty Night, Monkey Dust and 15 Storeys High... are but a few. Nighty Night is just so twisted and sick. The "hero" Jill [played by Julia Davies] is such a horrific creation. There are elements of Alan Partridge [the way she interacts with disabled people for starters]. Difficult to watch at times - especially the dog poo scene - but that's the legacy of modern comedy: how far can they push the line? Plenty of laugh-out-loud moments if you're not easily offended though, especially the way in which Jill reacts to the news that her husband Don isn't going to die of cancer after all: 'I won't have you messing me around like this!'?... but she's already deceided he's dead so tells everyone he is arranges his funeral and starts a new life, even his recovery doesn't stop her! Monkey dust is a collection on british animation, dark twisted and damn right funny, definately not on for the easily offended. Oh I could go on for hours but like people always say it's better than I make it sound. So plug in that freeview and get watching!

Too Real..?

I'm sure I have made my opinion of religion quite obvious over the last few... years. But today I found an interesting article titled 'Do we really need to see his agony so graphically?', of coure the 'He' refers to Jesus [I will avoid the Christ label]. The obvious answer he is no you dont NEED to see it, just don't go!. For Gods sake [no pun intended] if you don't want to see Mel Gibsons slant of the story then don't watch it. In all honestly 'If' it really happened, which ever story you feel is the correct one, do you really think the Romans or whoever was responsible for Jesus' death just slap his hand and said 'Bad Jesus'. Or maybe King Herod slapped an anti-social behaviour ban on Jesus, banning him from within a two mile radius of Jerusalem!!

Oh and As for the 'He died for us' slogan... I'm fed up of hearing it! Who died for me?... and what exactly was the other option in all of this? If you truely believe Jesus died for You [and that's entirely up to you] please in future refer to 'He died for ME' instead.
